This book is an exceptionally well-illustrated guide to the anatomical location and properties of acu-points. Whereas most texts on the subject give needle depth and other useful information to the acupuncturist, this one provides detailed instructions for bodyworkers such as shiatsu practitioners, massage therapists, and physiotherapists. In keeping with normal practice, the acu-point is given as an anatomical location and illustrated with a dot. However, this text goes further by delineating a larger area where the point can be activated through pressure and other methods. It is also unique in specifying the moxibustion, cupping, guasha, and magnet therapy techniques applicable to these points. Furthermore, the stimulation sensation (deqi) is described in detail. This book offers invaluable information to conscientious medical, alternative, and complementary practitioners. Its goal is to improve therapeutic effectiveness by giving a wider range of approaches to treatment than is currently available in a single text.
Ilaira Bouratinos, Dip.Ac., D.S., qualified in shiatsu with the European Shiatsu School, and received her diploma in acupuncture from the London School of Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine. She contributed a major section within the second edition of Shiatsu: The Complete Guide (Harper Collins). Bouratinos teaches oriental medical theory, acupuncture, shiatsu and a variety of other bodywork methods in Greece and the UK.

Jarmey teaches shiatsu, qigong, bodywork therapy, and anatomy extensively throughout Europe.
