Tokachi Futon

Manufactured with a high quality pine frame, the Tokachi is a traditional style futon that cleverly features ‘feet’ to enable the frame to form a completely flat bed, raised off the ground. The Tokachi is available in a range of single and double sizes and is complete with a 6-layer futon mattress featuring rebound woolfelt, polyester and traditional cotton.

Futon History

Futons gained popularity in the US in the 1970's - derived from the original Japanese futon, the "shikibuton". Western futons are based on the Japanese original. They are often placed on a configurable frame for dual use as a bed and a chair or sofa. Typically, the frame folds in the middle allowing the futon to be used as a sofa and flattens to be used as a bed.
